My inspiration for this painting, I used to sit outside and watch my fig tree. Every year, it amazed me—starting as a spindly bunch of twigs and growing into a lush canopy of green leaves, eventually offering sweet white and pink figs. I never got tired of watching it transform, season after season. Now that I’ve relocated to Delaware, I’m starting over with a new fig tree. I can’t wait to see how it takes shape in the years ahead, reaching out and sprouting toward the sky.
